ABBOTTSTOWN – As he begins his first term in public office, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) will be kicking off the first of three community outreach events on Feb. 13 at his district office in Abbottstown. Below is the schedule for the events:
• Abbottstown Open House: Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 4-6 p.m. at the Abbottstown District Office, 282 W. King St.
• North Newtown Open House: Thursday, Feb. 28, from 4-6 p.m. at the North Newtown Township Building, 528 Oakville Road., Shippensburg.
• South Middleton Open House: Thursday, March 7, from 4-6 p.m. at the South Middleton Township Building, 520 Park Drive, Boiling Springs.
“I want to thank the people of the 193rd District again for putting their faith in me to represent them in Harrisburg,” said Ecker. “I invite my constituents to come out and meet me and my staff and learn about the wide array of services that our office can provide, but I also want to stress the importance of getting to know your state representative and communicating your needs and opinions to them.
“People often get wrapped up in national politics at the federal level and forget that we are their first line of defense, along with township governments, to really push the needle on issues that directly affect them and their family,” Ecker added. “Issues such as property taxes, election integrity, environmental conservation and state budget matters are just a few of the many items that we tackle here at the state level.”
