HARRISBURG – A state Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grant awarding of $65,000 will help with the rehabilitation of a park and the creation of a new dog park in Mount Holly Springs, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) announced.

WHAT: The House Majority Policy Committee, chaired by Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest), will travel to Carlisle to host a roundtable discussion with local businesses, education institutions and organizations. Topics to be discussed will include workforce development, state taxation, regulatory reform and transportation logistics. The legislative session has been quite productive. The House passed numerous bills to improve Pennsylvania and those who live here. Though the General Assembly is not currently in voting session, I have been busy here in Adams and Cumberland counties meeting with residents to learn how the bills we passed would impact them and to get their feedback.

HARRISBURG – The House approved House Bill 1021, part of a two-bill package, introduced by Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) to allow the House and Senate to take a more active role in legal proceedings when a law is challenged as being unconstitutional.
HARRISBURG - With more than 2.5 million Pennsylvania workers employed by small businesses, the House approved a resolution by Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) to honor this key component of the Commonwealth’s economy.
HARRISBURG – Currently, whenever a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a state statute is filed, the attorney general’s office receives a formal notice. No such notice is required to be delivered to the General Assembly.
HARRISBURG – A bill authored by Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) which adds strangulation to the Crimes Code and Domestic Relations Code to a list of applicable “crimes of violence” passed the House today.
HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) and Rep. Paul Schemel (R-Franklin) to require that the General Assembly receive notification of cases challenging state statutes has been formally introduced. Currently, the Attorney General is the sole receiver of formal notice of lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of a state statute. The legislation also expands current law to allow either the House of Representatives or the Senate, or both, to choose to participate as parties in such lawsuits.
