Ecker Named to House Appropriations Committee
December 28, 2020
HARRISBURG – As Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) is poised to take the oath of office to begin his second term, he was appointed to a seat on the House Appropriations Committee.
“Torren is a very thoughtful legislator. I look forward to his participation with the Appropriations Committee as we continue to protect taxpayers through responsible budgeting,” Appropriations Committee Chairman Stan Saylor (R-York) said.
The House Appropriations Committee is one of the most influential committees in the General Assembly. It directly reviews and questions spending requests from state agencies and drives the final budget that is put forth to all members for their approval.
“Naturally, this appointment comes with large responsibilities, which I will meet head on as we enter what is expected to be a tough budget season,” Ecker said. “My goal as an Appropriations Committee member is to keep spending at or below current levels and eliminate any tax increase and borrowing proposals.”
The 2021-22 House Session gets underway Tuesday, Jan. 5, when members are sworn-in to office. Representatives next return on Jan. 11.
