HARRISBURG – During a press conference today, Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) joined his colleagues in the House to highlight the urgent need for tort reform in Pennsylvania.
Emphasizing the impact of excessive litigation on families and businesses, Ecker stated, “Our civil justice system must protect the innocent while eliminating the burdens that hinder growth. By reforming our tort system, we can create an environment where innovation thrives, and all Pennsylvanians can enjoy a higher quality of life.”
Ecker addressed the escalating costs associated with predatory lawsuits, particularly in the health care sector, where inflated liability premiums ultimately negatively affect patients. He also pointed out the detrimental effects of third-party litigation, which prolongs legal battles and benefits only the litigators involved.
Ecker and his colleagues are committed to enacting legislation that ensures fairness, promotes economic growth and establishes a level playing field for all citizens.
