HARRISBURG – Rep. Torren Ecker (R-Adams/Cumberland) announced today that he has been appointed to serve as the secretary of the House Game and Fisheries Committee. Ecker currently serves as a member on the House Children and Youth, Game and Fisheries, Judiciary, Labor and Industry and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.
“I am honored that House Speaker Mike Turzai selected me to serve as the secretary of a committee that is very important to the many Pennsylvanian outdoor enthusiasts and fish hatchery businesses in my district,” said Ecker. “As someone who grew up in rural southcentral Pennsylvania, I understand just how important natural resources and wildlife are to the fishery business and how they affect one of our state’s largest economic powerhouses – agriculture.”
The House Game and Fisheries Committee, chaired by Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York), is assigned legislation pertaining to annual performance and status reports from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. It also approves the setting of license fees that support each commission and addresses all legislation affecting them.
